DMC-FS62 er udstyret med et 33-132 mm f/2,8-5,9 LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT objektiv. Både dets navn og uforlignelige kvalitet stammer fra LEICA ELMARIT objektivet, der er kendt i filmkamerakredste for dets sublime ydeevne og kompakte størrelse. Objektivet giver skarpe billeder med lav forvrængning, det er utrolig lille og har en meget lav vægt, hvilket giver de billeder, som Leica objektiver er så kendte for. Resultatet er et kompakt kamera, der er nemt at have med, og som tager utrolig smukke billeder.
DMC-FS62 er udstyret med en 4x optisk zoomlinse (svarende til 35 mm film: 33-132mm), der tager smukke billeder af personer eller landskaber med en opløsning på 8,1 megapixel. Ud over 4x optisk zoom indeholder DMC-FS62 en ekstra optisk zoom-funktion. I 3 megapixel opløsningstilstand giver det endvidere yderligere forstørrelse, udvidet zoom på 7,1x ved hjælp af den midterste del af CCD'en.
DMC-FS62 er udstyret med en 2,5 tommer, 230.000 punkters højopløst LCD-skærm. Hertil kommer Intelligent LCD-funktion, som øger baglysluminans i trin på 11 % i forhold til det omgivende lys. Ved de højeste af disse 11 trin bliver LCD-lyset ca. 1,4 gange skarpere end normalt. Det gør det både nemmere og mere fleksibelt at tage og se billeder.
